Description & Requirements

On behalf of National Savings & Investments, we are looking for a Reporting Analyst - (Inside IR35) for a 6-month contract working on a hybrid basis and with an expectation of 2 days per week attendance in the London, Durham, Glasgow, Lytham offices

Purpose of role

To deliver comprehensive market and competitor intelligence that informs strategic decision-making at NS&I. The post-holder will research and analyse market activity, competitor initiatives, and benchmark NS&I’s performance against key industry players. This includes producing weekly and monthly reports, gathering and interpreting market data from various agencies, and generating insightful analysis to support business objectives and enhance understanding of the external environment.


As a Reporting Analyst - (Inside IR35), your main responsibilities will be:

Ad Hoc Research

  • Support the Market and Competitor Intelligence Manager by conducting research into market activity and benchmarking NS&I against key competitors.
  • Analyse product portfolios, customer experience, brand satisfaction, digital initiatives and marketing activities.
  • Provide timely updates to internal stakeholders on competitor developments that may impact the business.
  • Gather and synthesise data from multiple sources to build a comprehensive understanding of NS&I’s external market environment.


Interpretation & Analysis

  • Analyse market trends and emerging digital developments in the sector and assess their impact on NS&I and the wider financial services landscape.
  • Source and validate competitor intelligence data to identify best practice approaches and support strategic decision making.


NS&I Committee Representation

  • Research, evaluate and present high quality, evidence base market intelligence data tailored for committee use.
  • Support strategic discussions by providing high quality, evidence-based analysis.
  • Produce monthly committee packs and deputise in committee meetings when required.
  • Scheduled Reporting
  • Produce accurate, timely and stakeholder focused scheduled reports.
  • Deliver clear and concise executive summaries that translate insight into actionable recommendations.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to continuously refine reporting outputs based on their evolving needs.


Continuous Improvement

  • Support team initiatives that enhance process efficiency, reporting effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Contribute ideas and improvements to strengthen team performance and deliverables.


Administrative Support

  • Maintain and update the team’s intranet library and internal data sources.
  • Ensure databases are regularly updated with current economic, pricing and financial information.
  • Proofread and quality check reports and documents prior to circulation.
  • Assist with managing relationships with third party research and insight agencies.


Essential

  • Advanced Excel expertise, including database building, Macros, and VBA for automation.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability with accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to interpret statistical data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with clear information delivery across formats.
  • Proven presentation skills, including delivering to senior audiences and creating high quality PowerPoint outputs.
  • Effective report writing, producing concise, comprehensive, and insight driven documentation.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholder projects under pressure and collaborating with external insight agencies.


Desirable

  • Tableau experience
  • Degree qualified
