Description & Requirements


On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Possession Planning Specialist - Inside IR35 for a 3 Month contract based Hybrid - Remote & 3 days p/week in London.

As a Possession Planning Specialist, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and chair effective planning meetings with all Work Deliverers.
  • Manage relationships with TOCs and FOCs, balancing safety, performance, and service requirements.
  • Create collaborative relationships for both planned and emergency work, prioritising safety, performance, and efficiency.
  • Control the late change process according to Route policies and manage planning information with timely updates and validation checks.
  • Assess the impact of Schedule 4 and Schedule 8, making proposals as needed, and integrate access and TSR requests to meet business requirements.
  • Provide direction and support to the planning team, promoting continuous improvement and sharing best practices across the industry.


You'll have:

  • Experience of Possession Planning & operating relevant planning systems.
  • Knowledge of train services, network capacity, and the Network Code and Track Access Conditions.
  • Ability to integrate worksite requests into possessions, optimise possession plans, & specify worksite parameters.
  • Strong communication skills, customer-focused approach, and ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines within a continuous planning process.
  • Leadership skills to motivate team members and promote effective teamwork.
