On behalf of HM Land Registry, we are looking for a Finance Analyst Inside IR35 for a contract until 31st March 2026 based Hybrid working (3 days per week on site in Croydon, Peterborough, Swansea, Durham, Weymouth or Plymouth and remaining WFH)

Project Overview 

This role is within the Financial Operations team, within the Finance and Business Services Directorate at HM Land Registry. The role reports directly to the Deputy Financial Controller, and supports the Financial Controller, Deputy Chief Finance Officer and the Finance Senior Leadership team. This role has been created to bring additional capacity into the team to support financial reporting process improvements in relations to our reconciliations, and to also provide additional support as we develop our new accounts production model in preparation for the 2026-27 reporting year.


This role requires the successful candidate to work closely with the four team leads within Financial Operations (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting) to evaluate our current approach to our reconciliations.


In addition, HMLR is currently creating a brand-new accounts model to reflect changes to our structure from 1 April 2026. This is a great opportunity to help us develop a new accounts production model that is compliant with relevant accounting guidance and utilises best practice. The new model is being developed by the existing accountants working together, sharing ideas, problem solving and working together to produce a new model that reflects best practice and is fit for purpose.


The main duties and responsibilities of the Finance Analyst would be to:

  • Review how our reconciliations are current done.
  • Identify and introduce improvements (where appropriate).
  • Interrogate any reconciling items identified, ensuing appropriate & timely action is being taken/ planned to be taken to resolve it.
  • Update our existing operating procedures with any changes/ improvements agreed and implemented.


Essential:

  • Fully qualified CCAB accountant (or internationally recognised equivalent)
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Strong excel skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships


Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of government finance
  • Preparation of annual accounts
  • Experience updating/ documenting standard operating procedures, business processes and process maps
  • Experience of using an ERP accounting system
