Role Purpose:
Working on behalf of our public sector client, we are looking for a number of Commercial Leads, focussing on technology, transport, or cybersecurity for a 6-month hybrid contract based in London, Birmingham, Newport, Norwich or Liverpool.
The Commercial Lead will be responsible for shaping and delivering strategic commercial initiatives, ensuring robust governance, and driving successful procurement outcomes. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, business case development, and commercial expertise to support complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Business Case Development: Lead the creation of strategic and commercial cases, ensuring alignment with relevant frameworks and legislation (e.g., Procurement Act 2023, HMT Green Book).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including Legal, Finance, Policy, and technical teams. Facilitate workshops and engagement sessions to translate requirements into actionable plans.
- Governance & Risk Management: Maintain project governance tools (e.g., RAID logs), provide clear status reporting, and ensure risks and dependencies are managed effectively.
- Market Engagement: Support pre-market engagement activities, gather supplier feedback, and incorporate insights into commercial strategies and frameworks.
- Framework Development: Contribute to the design and improvement of procurement frameworks, ensuring readiness for future cycles and compliance with policy requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial background with experience in procurement and contract management.
- Proven ability to develop business cases and commercial strategies for complex projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence decisions.
- Familiarity with public sector procurement frameworks and associated governance processes.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery and adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable:
- MCIPS qualification.
- Awareness of sector-specific considerations (e.g., technology, transport, or cybersecurity).
