Description & Requirements

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Coherence Lead (Inside IR35) for a 6 Month (until end of March 2027) contract based in London (1 day per week on site).

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. 


Description:

As the MOD Coherence Lead, you will support a high-impact team that understands Defence’s AI demand, identifies opportunities, and enables coherent delivery across MOD. A core priority will be triaging requests, routing DAIC support, and bringing together the right teams to respond effectively.

This role ensures DAIC remains connected to the wider Defence enterprise, enabling effective engagement with its services. You will lead communications and engagement activity, represent DAIC across MOD, and help shape priorities through Defence insight.


As a Coherence Lead, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Triaging requests and queries, and routing DAIC support to the right teams.
  • Bring together Defence teams working on similar AI challenges to align effort and share learning.
  • Maintain the AIPWG Terms of Reference, including outputs, attendance, and governance alignment.
  • Maintain a Defence AI Partners directory across DAIC, FLCs, and TLBs.
  • Coordinate ROADs and SLT reporting, including distribution and follow-up actions.
  • Map ROADs outputs into wider AI governance, including escalation routes.
  • Develop agendas with SLT and manage attendance for effective participation.
  • Lead AIPWG delivery and facilitation in line with agreed scope.
  • Refine prioritisation and escalation processes across DAIC.
  • Review communications and engagement plans to strengthen strategic messaging.
  • Manage DAIC front-door channels and triage responses.


Essential:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across Defence.
  • Experience of triaging requests, coordinating responses, and routing support effectively.
  • Experience of coordinating governance forums, working groups, or cross-functional engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including briefings, agendas, and reports.
  • Ability to identify dependencies and turn insight into clear recommendations.
  • Experience of delivering engagement activity such as communities, workshops, or events.
