Description & Requirements

On behalf of FCDO, we are looking for a Technical Business Analyst (Outside IR35) for a 3 Month (Until 31st March 2025) contract based in London 2 days per week.


Please note: This role requires active SC Clearance. Candidates must be willing to undergo/eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.

Description: 

The role’s primary focus will be on gathering, modelling, analysing and presenting systems data and information to define the existing state and potential change to ESND PMO systems and processes.

To ultimately assist the ENSD PMO to provide delivery, reporting and strategic support across ESND.


Key Responsibilities:

You will report directly to the Head of the ESND PMO and work closely with ESND and IDD technical specialists, Department Heads, other key stakeholders and other members of the ESND PMO to define capability which adds value to them. The role will include:

  • Data Modelling:  Model data, systems and processes at varying levels of detail or complexity. Understand the effect of potential changes and how business processes, systems, structures, data and roles and responsibilities interact with one another.
  • Systems Analysis: Identify and analyse software capabilities and develop models and requirements for bespoke software/systems. Collaborate with developers to design and implement technology solutions.
  • Testing: Use relevant tools and techniques to identify business scenarios and develop test criteria and plans. Conducting testing, troubleshooting and debugging to optimise performance
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve system performance and lead the analysis, design, prioritisation and implementation of process and change, training users and stakeholders on new systems or software solutions
  • Requirements Definition and Management: Identify, challenge and validate business and user requirements using appropriate requirements management lifecycle methods to complete tasks and outputs. Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Business Analysis: Apply structured approaches to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex business problems and opportunities. Conduct options analysis, assess feasibility and impact, quantify potential benefits, define project success measures and contribute to business case development.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Identify, analyse, manage and monitor relationships with an between internal and external stakeholders. Communicate with stakeholders clearly and regularly.


Skills/Experience Required:

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong knowledge of data analysis and data modelling using Excel, Power Query and Power Automate and proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of analysis and modelling techniques and the ability to select and use the most appropriate ones to support the planning, analysis, development, testing, implementation and improvement of systems and services
  • A meticulous approach to data analysis, process documentation and report design to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • An ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis.
  • An ability to explain technical details effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and document and present findings in an
  • accessible and easy to understand way.
  • A proactive “can do” problem-solving approach to address data challenges and the ability to adapt to changing requirements, business priorities, and technological advancements.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work closely with developers, data engineers, and other team members in multidisciplinary projects. The ability to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.
  • A professional qualification in Business, Data or Systems Analysis, Data Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a technical business analyst or in similar roles.
