On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Programme Director for a 9 months contract based 3 days a week in either London or Milton Keynes

As a Programme Director, your main responsibilities will be:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for large-scale transformation programmes (typically £50m+), ensuring alignment with organisational strategy.
- Drive mainframe modernisation programmes, including re-platforming, re-hosting, or full replacement strategies.
- Engage and influence top-level stakeholders, including C-suite executives, board members, and senior leadership teams, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, regulators, and external authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with national or industry-level initiatives.
- Establish robust programme governance, ensuring adherence to delivery frameworks (e.g., Agile at scale, SAFe, hybrid models).
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Programme Director / Senior Programme Manager delivering large-scale transformation programmes (£50m+).
- Extensive experience within IT and/or telecoms environments, ideally in highly complex, legacy-heavy organisations
- Excellent communication and negotiation sills
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, with the ability to proactively identify potential issues, anticipate challenges, and implement effective solutions to mitigate risks
Desirable:
- Experience in rail
