On behalf of The Home Office, we are looking for a Senior Research Officer (Inside IR35) for a 40 day contract based remotely which can run from August 2025 to the 19th December 2025

DV Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.


As a Senior Research Officer, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Have experience of cyber security risk mitigations, requirements and capacity building at the enterprise and national level.
  • Have experience in the field of CNI protection from cyber threats, ideally covering a wide range of sectors including telecommunications, energy, essential digital services, industry, finance and banking.
  • Current expert knowledge of cyber security risk identification, and mitigation in the international CII environment.
  • Have experience and a broad understanding of how modern Information Systems are architected and operated in the globally distributed service marketplace.
  • Ability to work at the strategic (system of systems) level and see the global systems picture
