On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Finance Business Partner (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract based London 1 day a week with some travel to other MOD locations.

Commercial X is an initiative sponsored by 2nd Permanent Under Secretary, Director General, Commercial and Defence’s Chief Information Officer which addresses the disconnect between the Defence acquisition process and the pace at which digital and innovation markets move.
We have 3 primary goals:
- To establish an enduring commercial team, skilled in the acquisition of digital and innovation capability at pace and deliver game-changing capability into the hands of our war fighters.
- To increase the efficiency of the end-to-end acquisition lifecycle by 20%.
- To increase the level of engagement between small and medium suppliers and Defence delivery teams.
We are seeking a Finance Business Partner who will work closely with the Commercial X Operations team, applying appropriate levels of financial control to day-to-day activities and supporting delivery of Commercial X’s ambition.
As a Finance Business Partner your main responsibilities will be:
- Finance Business Partnering activity providing advice and guidance to senior stakeholders
- Forecasting, validation, payments
- End to end finance controls
- Separate budgets need controlled
- Approving requisitions and creating Purchase Orders.
- Forecasting future spend and managing accruals.
- Matching invoices to services provided.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed financial records.
- Proactively identifying and resolving financial discrepancies.
Essential:
- Qualified/Part Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CCAB)
- Strong experience in regular financial processing tasks.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain organized and up-to-date records.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving.
- SC Cleared or eligible and willing to go through SC Clearance
Desirable:
- Understanding of financial aspects of commercial engagements.
- Experience or visibility in the acquisition life-cycle.
- Defence (knows CP & F – oracle programme)? – Highly desirable
- Oracle
