On behalf of the Government Property Agency (GPA), we are looking for a Business Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract on a hybrid basis in London (2-3 days on site, remainder WFH – some travel may be required)
The Government Property Agency is an Executive Agency of the cabinet office. It is changing the way the Civil Service works and is at the forefront of Government's transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The Agency is central to the delivery of key Government policies including moving 22,000 Civil Service roles out of London by 2030 and tackling climate change by contributing to the Net Zero agenda. To do this we are delivering a major change programme across the UK and consolidating our portfolio in order to save £1.4 Bn over 10 years.

This is an ambitious and exciting task, for which we need innovative people, with strong commercial acumen, who are passionate about visualising and implementing customer needs.
As a Business Manager your main responsibilities will be:
- Administrative and logistical support: Private Office manages the daily schedule, travel arrangements and correspondence; ensures that meetings, appointments and communications are effectively organised and prioritised
- Communication and Coordination: Act as a central point of contact. We are the single point of contact for Ministerial and Permanent secretaries offices. Private Office builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders including clients, fostering collaboration and communication with the CEO. To facilitate the engagement and dialogue between the CEO and team members at all levels. Manage correspondence and communications ensuring timely responses.
- Briefing and document preparation: Provide first line support and advice to the CEO by drafting submissions, briefing, speeches and reports. And importantly, identifying possible briefing needs and anticipating the CEO’s requests for further analysis, actively distilling and tailoring information, working closely with teams across the GPA (as well as for example, OGP, PfG, other government departments) to ensure that the CEO receives effective, accurate and clear advice.
- Project Management: Private Office tracks and drives CEO priorities and issues, ensuring that work generated is delivered on time with high quality outputs and outcomes. We often oversee special projects and initiatives.
- Confidentiality, Discretion and Information Management: A great deal of the sensitive information passes through the office so the role is required to observe the highest levels of confidentiality and operate with the utmost integrity and discretion.
- Maintain Strategic Awareness and Horizon Scanning: Private Office assists in the strategic planning and execution of strategic initiatives and projects led by the CEO. We maintain a broad awareness of a wide array of issues affecting the GPA, while horizon-scanning for potential future issues including across government. We are committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment to achieve the GPA's vision and objectives.
Essential:
- Experience working with C-Suite
- Stakeholder management experience
- Experience working within a similar role
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Desirable:
- Business administration apprenticeship (Level 3)
