As a Building Safety & Compliance Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

 

  • Provide senior management support to the Head of Global Building Compliance and Standards and the OED compliance team, leading on operational management of compliance queries, questions and escalations 
  • Ensure the compliance mailbox and related queries are managed and requests for support and information and responded to in a timely fashion in accordance with the FCDO policies and standards. 
  • Monitor the compliance database as it expands and monitor associated level of statutory / legal compliance for the Global estate as Planon continues to grow in scope - reporting to the Head of Global Building Compliance and Standards on progress against global compliance scores.
  • As agreed with the Head of Global Compliance and Standards, support with drafting policy updates.
  • Work collaboratively with the Global Property Support Service (GPSS) helpdesk as necessary to ensure OED/ESND compliance updates and safety notices, etc. are communication in a coordinated manner.
  • Working with the Head of Global Building Compliance and Standards to continually review the FCDO property standards to ensure ongoing compliance is assured and support in the creation of additional policies, as necessary.

 

Essential:

 

  • Recognised engineering qualifications (mechanical or electrical bias) at HNC level or higher.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE, IET, IWFM, IEEE).
  • Proven experience managing building compliance, health & safety, and technical standards within complex facilities or estates.
  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks.  Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. 

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience deputising for senior leadership in compliance or technical meetings.
  • Familiarity with FCDO policies or working within government or international estate environments
