On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Senior Service/UX Designer (Inside IR35) for a 5 month contract working REMOTELY with occasional travel to the London Office.
An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)

As a Senior Service/UX Designer your main responsibilities will be to:
- Advise teams on designing inclusive, accessible and environmentally sustainable content or services.
- Design and deliver ethical services that consider the personal and social context of users.
- Ensure services meet accessibility regulations and GDS standards.
- Help teams understand and apply user-centred design principles.
- Align design work to the goals and vision of their organisation.
- Use risks, opportunities and constraints in technology, systems and policy to shape design.
- Identify and create new design patterns and components.
- Support other designers in applying iterative design principles and agile methodologies.
- Iterate and improve complex designs based on successive rounds of research.
- Prototype complex ideas and adapt designs quickly to changing requirements, priorities or user needs.
- Lead and coordinate design work within your team and communicate the value of user-centred design.
Essential:
- Expertise in crafting end-to-end services and user experiences using UCD principles and journey mapping.
- Advanced skills in service blueprinting, wireframing, prototyping and interaction models using tools like Figma and Sketch.
- Proven ability to lead cross functional teams, facilitate design workshops, mentor junior designers and collaborate effectively with product managers and developers.
- Proficient in user research, usability testing, data visualisation and applying insights to enhance services.
- In-depth understanding of WCAG standards, accessibility testing, and inclusive design principles to create equitable experiences for diverse user groups.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, iterating designs based on sprint cycles and feedback loops.
- Experience working with the GDS framework and design system.
- Experience working to government standards.
- Adaptive mindset to respond to evolving user needs and business priorities.
