Description & Requirements

On behalf of Homes England, we are looking for a Digital Content Designer (Inside IR35) for a 4 month contract based Remote.


A content designer is responsible for creating, evaluating, updating and reviewing content at all stages of the end-to-end user journey.

Homes England is seeking experienced Digital Content Designers to join its publishing and content team. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering content for the GOV.UK platform, supporting major housing investment initiatives.

This is a hands on role where you’ll rework existing content, create new content and ensure everything meets Government Digital Service (GDS) standards. If you have strong GOV.UK Whitehall experience and can hit the ground running, we want to hear from you.


As a Digital Content Designer your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Design and publish content on the GOV.UK Whitehall platform using Markdown.
  • Review, update and create content that meets GDS standards and accessibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across government to ensure content is clear, accurate and user-focused.
  • Manage competing priorities in a high-pressure, fast paced environment.
  • Use evidence, data and research to make content decisions.
  • Build relationships across government to focus on user needs and influence stakeholders.
  • Contribute to and use the style guides and content patterns.
  • Engage with and contribute to the cross-government content community.


Essential:

  • Proven experience with GOV.UK Whitehall platform and Markdown.
  • Strong user centred content design skills making complex language and processes easy to understand.
  • Solid background in content design and copywriting, ideally in the public sector.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work in complex, high-pressure environments and can apply an Agile mindset.
  • Experience with GDS content patterns and style guides.
  • Experience in planning and managing content projects.
  • Understanding of government accessibility requirements.
