Description & Requirements


On behalf of FCDO, we are looking for a Facilities Manager (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract which is a hybrid role so requires up to 4 days a week in the London office

UK Estate Operations make sure that property and facilities-related contracts and work streams are managed professionally and deliver value for money. We plan and deliver maintenance and build programmes based on legal and statutory requirements and business needs. The team also support procurement activities related to FM services, and are the day to day subject matter experts informing senior FCDO leads of best practice accordingly.

This role sits within the UK Estate Operations team, reporting to the Facilities Manager for the London Estate.

Providing first line response to FCDO customers / stakeholder and wider building users by way of completion of the following requirements:


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.


As a Facilities Manager, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Auditing of FM Contract partners services. Evidencing successful delivery and challenging short falls in services in a timely and professional manner and reporting these through to relevant Performance management leads.
  • Provide first line triage and or response to enquires sent to the UK Estate Operational mailbox, ensuring that published polices are used to inform customers and resolve enquiries.
  • Manage the KCS Gym provisions, including all aspects of membership, interfacing with relevant colleagues to ensure approval of access rights and to manage the facility in a way that ensures a safe, secure and compliant environment.
  • Will work with Front of House (Reception) services to ensure that the customer journey meets the expectations as detailed in the contractual services. Auditing and reporting of services to senior leads as necessary.
  • Will support wider team members with approvals and challenges of work orders, to ensure accountable expenditure governance.
  • Will support delivery of H&S best practice and office subject matter expertise to senior leads, informed by relevant training standards, such as IOSH.


Essential Skills


  • Experience as a facilities manager with delivery across soft services which Includes maintenance and cleaning services
  • Working in partnership with the designated service provider/partner and ensuring the overall building is managed
  • Experience of onsite audits across facilities management and health and safety
  • Stakeholder engagement at all levels Including contractors and any supply staff
  • Experience of financial budgeting and cost delivery across the contract
  • Strong self starter with a pro active approach to all duties


Desirable Skills


  • Formal health and safety qualification would be highly beneficial
