Description & Requirements

On behalf of FCDO, we are looking for an Executive Assistant Inside IR35 for a 5 month contract based Hybrid working (3 days per week in London Office and remaining WFH)

Role purpose:

The Commercial Directorate is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Commercial Director for Programmes and a Deputy Director to provide day to day support with diary management, travel bookings, expenses and assisting the Private Secretary with management of SCS responsibilities. The job holder will be required to prep and support two directors and a deputy director as they attend meetings, boards, and overseas engagement. You will have the opportunity to develop upward influencing skills and work closely with a range of colleagues across the Office and network. There may also be occasional opportunities to travel between KCS and AH. This is a ‘finger on the pulse’ exciting role in which you’ll have the opportunity to help lead a directorate’s strategy and work at senior levels.


The main duties and responsibilities of the Executive Assistant would be:

  • Diary Management - Proactively managing diaries to make best use of time, exercising judgement to ensure engagements are suitably prioritised and delegated where appropriate.
  • Administrative support – Book travel, accommodation, meetings rooms as required; process expenses in a timely fashion.
  • Networking - developing and maintaining strong relationships with the Directors and wider Senior Management Team, their teams and key stakeholders both internally and externally, taking time to understand their preferences, priorities and the work undertaken by the business area.
  • Wider team support – work flexibly across Director’s Office team and directorate to provide support to teams as and when required. Proactively contribute to events and activities that support delivery of the wider directorates’ objectives. Also provide cover for other EAs in the team as required, which will include providing EA support to the DDs.
  • Occasional secretariat- preparing packs and taking minutes.

  • The FCDO also operates an agile workforce. To facilitate this, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
