Description & Requirements


Assistant Facilities Manager for the FCDO on a 12 month contract, hybrid role requires up to 3 days a week in the London office and the rest from home. 


UK Estate Operations make sure that property and facilities-related contracts and work streams are managed professionally and deliver value for money. We plan and deliver maintenance and build programmes based on legal and statutory requirements and business needs. The team also support procurement activities related to FM services, and are the day to day subject matter experts informing senior FCDO leads of best practice accordingly.

This role sits within the UK Estate Operations team, reporting to the Facilities Manager for the London Estate.

Providing first line response to FCDO customers / stakeholder and wider building users by way of completion of the following requirements:


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. 


Key Responsibilities


  • Work in partnership with the service provider to deliver the facilities management contract for the client which includes both hard and soft services
  • Stakeholder engagement at all levels which Include both Account management and operational teams.
  • Manage the accountability of the contract which Includes both budgeting and cost control
  • Manage teams based on site which will include team members
  • Deliver both onsite audits and health and safety across the overall contract


Essential Skills


  • Proven experience supporting senior-level Facilities Managers, including work with blue‑chip clients in fast‑paced, high‑expectation environments. 
  • Strong financial management capability, with hands-on experience overseeing FM contract financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, covering both account management and operational leadership teams
  • Multi-site management experience across a UK estates portfolio, including responsibility for multiple sites nationwide, with three locations based in London.
  • Experience managing and developing team members, ensuring high performance, compliance, and service excellence.
  • Highly proactive self-starter, with the ability to work autonomously, anticipate issues, and take ownership of all assigned duties.


Qualifications


  • Formal Health and safety qualification would be highly beneficial
