On behalf of The UK Health Security Agency, we are looking for a Freedom of Information Officer Inside IR35 for a 6 months contract based REMOTELY

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has been set up to provide health security for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. It will need to take action like no other organisation previously in order to mitigate threats to health before they materialise. UKHSA will be a trusted source of advice to government and to the public.

As a  Freedom of Information Officer , your main responsibilities will be:

• Log and acknowledge incoming FOI and EIR requests.
• Seek clarification from requesters when submissions are unclear or ambiguous.
• Coordinate document searches and gather evidence across internal directorates and external third parties.
• Carry out redactions — including personal data and commercially sensitive or confidential information — while maintaining clear, auditable redaction notes.
• Record and track internal review requests.
• Support Information Governance colleagues with Data Subject Access Requests where duties overlap, ensuring clear separation of statutory regimes while applying consistent data protection principles.
• Send holding responses and updates, and contribute to ongoing records management improvements.

Essential:

• Experience handling FOI/EIR requests, including logging, clarification, and managing internal reviews.
• Ability to coordinate document searches and evidence gathering across multiple teams and external partners.
• Proven skill in carrying out accurate redactions (personal data, confidential and commercially sensitive information)
• Solid understanding of data protection principles and their application across FOI/EIR and DSAR processes.
