Description & Requirements

On behalf of Crown Commercial Services (CCS), we are looking for a Junior Content Designer (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract on a hybrid basis (2-3 days per week from Liverpool, Birmingham, Newport or Norwich – remainder WFH / remote)

As a Junior Content Designer your main responsibilities will be: 

  • To manage user-centered design projects from end-to-end, directly contributing to the CCS business plan
  • To use data and evidence to identify potential content improvements and explore solutions
  • Confidently explain content choices to colleagues and stakeholders, demonstrating how they meet user needs
  • Support the day-to-day publishing workflow for the CCS website and intranet
  • Advise colleagues on content best practice, including style and tone


Essential criteria:

  • Excellent writing, editorial and proofreading skills, with the ability to follow a style guide
  • Experience of using content management systems such as Whitehall and Wordpress to publish content
  • A strong understanding of user-centred design principles and how to apply them - from identifying user needs to creating accessible, user-friendly content
  • The ability to use research and data to inform decisions and measure success
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders to improve and maintain content


Desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge of Government Digital Service design guidance
  • Knowledge of public procurement

Any rates of payment quoted will reflect the gross rate per day for the assignment and will be subject to appropriate taxes and statutory costs. As such the payment to the intermediary and your income resulting from this contract will be different.
