On behalf of Government Legal Department, we are looking for a G7 Head of HR Systems and Service Improvement - (Inside IR35) for a 3-month contract working on a hybrid basis with an expectation of 2-3 days per week in the London or Leeds offices
We have a short-term opportunity for an experienced HR systems and service improvement lead to help drive forward key digital and service improvement priorities within HR Operations.
GLD’s HR Division provides strategic partnering, professional advice, and in-house HR and payroll services to over 3,500 employees across GLD, AGO (Attorney General’s Office) and HMCPSI (HM Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate). On a day-to-day basis, the HR Operations Team are responsible for:
- Providing the first point of contact for HR and payroll queries
- Administering employee and payroll changes
- Providing accurate and compliant payroll and pensions services
- Managing third party occupational health, employee assistance and employee benefit schemes to support personal and financial wellbeing
- Maintaining and optimising GLD’s HR and Payroll iTrent platform (internally branded as MyHR)
- Providing management information and people analytics to support local and strategic decision making
You will lead projects to deliver key People Strategy priorities: providing efficient, high-quality HR services to our employees and improving the user experience through continuous improvement and optimisation of our current platforms.
As part of our drive to provide efficient, high-quality HR services, you will lead the digitalisation of HR processes and deliver system improvements that support business objectives. You will lead a small team of HRIS specialists responsible for maintaining and optimising iTrent on behalf of HR, while improving the user experience, increasing efficiency, and enhancing self-service.
You will also work closely with Digital colleagues to ensure that ServiceNow, GLD’s ticketing and case-handling platform, is aligned to organisational structures and HR processes, meets the needs of HR users, and that requests for change are effectively scoped, progressed, and implemented.
As a G7 Head of HR Systems and Service Improvement - (Inside IR35), your main responsibilities will be:
Manage and support a small HRIS team and drive improvements to iTrent/MyHR to enhance user experience and self-service
Lead priority HR systems and service improvement activity, promote a culture of continuous improvement across the team and provide project and change management support for digital and non-digital projects as required.
Scope, prioritise and progress MyHR and Service Now change requests and chair the MyHR and HRSD Change Boards
Build strong and constructive relationships with Digital colleagues to ensure shared priorities are understood, changes are well governed, and solutions are delivered in line with business needs and agreed standards.
Develop a strong understanding of user needs, business priorities and current challenges and work with HR stakeholders to identify and implement more efficient and effective ways of using available technology that are user-focused and aligned to business need
Person Specification
We are looking for an experienced HR Operations professional with a proven track record of leading continuous improvement projects and delivering digital HR services. While experience of working with HR information systems is essential, this is not an IT operations role requiring technical software skills.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- A strong focus on digital innovation and continuous improvement
- Proven experience delivering HR services via digital platforms, including an in-depth knowledge of HR information systems, self-service portals and other digital tools and platforms
- A good understanding of HR policies and process across the entire employee lifecycle
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop and implement digital HR solutions and continuous improvement projects to resolve problems and support team and/or organisational priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and nurture productive working relationships across teams and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project and change management skills, including leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising tasks, and meeting challenging deadlines.
- Working knowledge of data privacy and security requirements
