On behalf of The Ministry of Justice - HMCTS, we are looking for a Project Support Officer (Inside IR35) for a 3 month contract. This is a fully remote working role.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.
As a Project Support Officer, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Coordinate and manage governance forums (Project Board, working groups), including scheduling, logistics, and communications
- Prepare and quality assure board packs, ensuring consistency, completeness, and timely distribution
- Capture high-quality minutes, decisions, and actions, ensuring clear tracking and follow-through
- Own and maintain RAID logs (Risks, Issues, Assumptions, Dependencies), ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Proactively chase updates and support regular RAID reviews
- Support escalation processes and ensure visibility of key delivery risks
- Facilitate Lessons Learned sessions and maintain structured outputs
- Support development and maintenance of RACI matrices
Essential:
- Proven experience in a PMO / Project Support / PSO role within complex projects
- Strong understanding of project governance, RAID management, and reporting disciplines
- Experience supporting senior governance forums (e.g. Project Boards)
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at pace
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance capability
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Teams)
- Proactive, self-starting approach with strong stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable:
- Public sector or government project experience (HMCTS, MoJ, or similar)
- Familiarity with Green Book business case development (SOBC, OBC, FBC)
- Experience supporting commissioning, commercial, or transformation projects
- Exposure to formal assurance processes (e.g. Gateway Reviews)
