On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for an Operational Support Officer (Inside IR35) for an 11 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (one day per week office based - London with occasional travel to other MoD sites).

Overview of Commercial X and how we operate projects cover anything from delivering future integrated anti-submarine warfare systems, artificial intelligence systems to support our naval officers, synthetic environments to train tomorrow’s To support the required pace of innovation and technology delivery across Defence and provide access to industry expertise, we need to take a different approach to acquisition.
Commercial X is a new and exciting disruptive cell within Defence Commercial reporting directly into the Director General Commercial for MOD and DE&S. We are involved in the acquisition of some of Defence’s most exciting products which often sit at the leading edge of the digital and innovation landscape. These autonomous ships’ captains and enhanced Command and Control capability within Permanent Joint Headquarters and Projects to name just a few. Our primary purpose is to accelerate the commercial process so that new capability is available to users quickly.
We are completely focussed on achieving outcomes, we operate across the whole of Defence and concentrate on the acquisition of new innovation and digital capability, balancing pace and agility with procurement risk and policy.
To enable this Commercial X has been granted freedoms to operate differently:
- Approve routes to market and value for money for Commercial X programmes up to £50 million.
- Without further external assurance, contracts can be scaled, providing they remain between £10m - £50m and less than 2-year duration.
- Challenge existing commercial processes. Identify and resolve embedded ways of working which drive time and inefficiency into current acquisition processes and, where appropriate, challenge policy that is not fit for purpose.
- Take greater risks when it’s the right thing to do. Employ a risk appetite approach that is aligned to the value and nature of the engagement.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
Job Purpose:
We require an Operational Support Officer to ensure the smooth running of all administration and finance support activities reporting directly into our Operations Lead.
As an Operational Support Officer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Manages and coordinates Commercial X Teams SharePoint site and Ops Management site
- Functional admin and diary management support for Ops and Commercial Lead
- Recruitment and onboarding admin support of interim and perm resources
- Liaise with interim agencies for all end to end recruitment activities
- Scheduling of quarterly events and all associated logistics
- Manages Commercial X shared mailbox
- Skills Development Programme and secondment admin support
- Scheduling of training and learning events
- Management Information admin support, creating reporting packs
- Supports Finance Business Partner in staffing forecasts and transfer of funding.
