Description & Requirements


  • On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Commercial Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month hybrid contract, with 2 days in a local MOJ hub and the remainder will be working from home.


    Within the terms of the contract the successful candidate will be expected to attend a team meeting, if this is held outside of the candidates location travel expenses will; be paid.


    The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.


    As a Commercial Manager, your main responsibilities will be:


    • Strategic Planning and Sourcing: Developing and implementing procurement strategies, conducting market research, and identifying suitable suppliers
    • Tendering and Contract ManagementManaging the tendering process, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations
    • Supplier Relationship ManagementBuilding and maintaining relationships with key suppliers, driving performance, and managing risks.
    • Value for Money: Ensuring procurements deliver the best value for money for the department, considering cost, quality, and other relevant factors
    • Compliance and Risk ManagementEnsuring all procurement activities comply with relevant regulations and policies, and mitigating potential risks
    • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Potentially leading and mentoring junior members of the team, providing guidance and support.


    Essential:


    • Experience of working in an end to end digital procurement role
    • Public Sector experience
    • Stakeholder management skills
    • Complex governance experience
    • Digital transformation
    • Experienced in using CCS Frameworks
    • PCR 2015


    Desirable:


    • MCIPS
    • PA23 trained
