Description & Requirements

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Commercial Lead (Inside IR35) for a 6 month hybrid contract based out of London or Birmingham.

As a Commercial Lead , your main responsibilities will be:

  • Connecting with Stakeholders: Be the go-to person for internal and external teams like Legal, Finance, Policy, and technical experts. You’ll also help run workshops to turn policy requirements into clear, practical commercial plans.
  • Shaping the Business Case: Take ownership of drafting the Strategic and Commercial cases, making sure they clearly explain why the new framework is needed and align with the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Leading Key Project Stages: Guide the project through the processes (from Discovery to Business Case), ensuring all documents are top-quality and ready for board approval.
  • Supporting Market Engagement: Work closely with the Commercial Lead during the Preliminary Market Engagement phase—this includes publishing notices and gathering supplier feedback to confirm the proposed approach
  • Keeping Governance on Track: Manage the project’s RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) to ensure long-term success and prepare a thorough handover pack for the procurement execution phase.

Essential:

  • Cybersecurity Awareness: You don’t need to be a technical expert, but you should understand what’s been done so far and be confident enough to keep things moving.
  • Commercial & Cyber Knowledge: A solid grasp of the commercial side of procurement, with some exposure to cybersecurity concepts.
  • Policy Perspective: You might come from a policy background rather than hands-on technical delivery—and that’s great! We value strategic thinkers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: A natural people person who can build relationships and engage easily with a wide range of stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • MCIPS

Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
