On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Senior Commercial Policy Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 7 months (until end of March 2027) contract based in London in the office 2 days per week.

We are seeking a commercially minded professional to support the delivery of the YUCCA Value Chain Mapping Project, helping to strengthen supply chain resilience across strategically important sectors.

This role will focus on translating analytical insights relating to supply chain vulnerabilities, critical mineral dependencies, and economic security risks into practical commercial policy recommendations and interventions.

You will work closely with analysts, government stakeholders, and industry partners to identify supply chain challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and shape evidence-based policy responses. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong commercial expertise, policy development experience, and stakeholder engagement skills to contribute to nationally significant resilience programmes.

As a Senior Commercial Policy Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:

• Support the delivery of the YUCCA Value Chain Mapping Project by translating analytical findings into practical commercial policy recommendations.
• Analyse supply chain risks, vulnerabilities, and critical mineral dependencies to identify potential impacts on resilience and security of supply.
• Apply commercial expertise to assess challenges arising from identified supply chain risks and market dependencies.
• Develop and evaluate options for commercial interventions and policy measures to strengthen supply chain resilience.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of mitigation strategies informed by analytical evidence and stakeholder insights.
• Engage with industry partners, suppliers, and relevant stakeholders to test proposed policy recommendations and assess their practicality.
• Gather and incorporate industry feedback to ensure commercial interventions are realistic, effective, and deliverable.
• Produce high-quality reports, briefing papers, presentations, and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Monitor emerging supply chain challenges and provide insight into potential commercial and strategic implications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support evidence-based decision-making and policy development.
• Support the communication of project findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential:

• Experience developing commercial policy recommendations based on analytical evidence and research findings.
• Demonstrable ability to identify commercial or supply chain risks and develop practical mitigation, resilience, or improvement measures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing reports, briefings, and stakeholder presentations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively across government, industry, and delivery partners.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation considerations.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of defence supply chains and associated procurement environments.
• Understanding of critical minerals, industrial strategy, supply chain mapping, or economic security issues.
• Experience working within government, public sector, policy, or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with supply chain resilience frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, or strategic sourcing principles.
