Description & Requirements
On behalf of the FCDO, we are looking for a Senior Change and Release Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month hybrid contract based 3 days per week in London or Milton Keynes.
Note: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position, (and speed at which we require a postholder in situ), preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance
Change Management sits within the IT Service Management department of the Information and Digital Directorate and is responsible for enabling changes to be made to Products and Services with a clear understanding of benefits and risks, by setting standards such as the types of change, approval levels and notice periods.
The Senior Change and Release Manager is a role within the IT Service Management department of IDD, reporting into the Head of Service Centre. They will own the Change Management process, policy and governance procedures.
You will lead teams to work in an agile and multidisciplinary environment. They will have line management responsibilities, including:
- Oversight of direct reports and line management duties throughout their team, team prioritisation and utilisation.
- Demonstrating role model values of diversity and inclusion, leadership and change management in the team, engaging and maintaining the commitment of staff.
- Developing a supporting environment for staff, promoting a culture of constructive feedback, learning, development and flexible working.
- Building an open and collaborative culture within the IDD Change team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that all technical changes to the IT environment are properly assessed for risk and impact, prioritised and scheduled efficiently and authorised and implemented using structured processes.
- Acting as an escalation point for all changes within the IDD pipeline.
- Promote awareness of structured change control across teams.
- Chairing Change Advisory Board meetings, ensuring that key stakeholders are updated on upcoming and priority changes and obtaining approval for centralised changes.
- Supporting Product Teams to understand the level of risk associated from each change, providing guidance on the category of change.
- Negotiating with Product Owners to coordinate the scheduling of all upcoming changes.
- Upwards communication of timely updates and progress reporting to senior IT Service Management leadership for all changes via weekly governance forums or as required.
- Documenting and maintaining Change Management processes and procedures, sharing best practice with Product Owners.
- Overseeing the timely production of Change Management reporting and management information.
- Championing Change Management, actively improving and optimising current processes.
- Collaboration with the wider ITSM capabilities, understanding interfaces, workflows, dependencies and impacts between the capabilities.
- Proactively focusing on continuous improvement of self and service, working with others to improve the user experience, simplify processes and improve efficiency of IT Services to enable the Government’s diplomatic, development and consular work around the world.
We are looking for someone with strong technical skills and a proven track record of leading and enabling Change Management functions
A minimum of ITIL Foundation is required for this role.
