On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Senior Business Analyst (Inside IR35) for a contract which runs to the end of July 2026 which is a hybrid role so requires up to 3 days a week in the London office
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.
As a Senior Business Analyst your core purpose will be to act as the bridge between the business and the technical team. This will involve you identifying the requirements of a service, identifying the benefits to the user and translating this into actionable requirements for the development team. You will work iteratively with the business, service team and the development team to clarify ambiguity, resolve issues and assist with additional functionality across the service development lifecycle. You will be experienced as a BA in a variety of elicitation methods and can advise your team on the appropriate use of each method depending on the stakeholder and scenario.
SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
As a Senior Business Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:
- Working across a busy team which will include both business and technical departments
- Working across both senior technical and business stakeholders ensuring the understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria is aligned.
- Analysing large amounts of complex information and using it to produce solutions.
- Managing product lifecycles ensuring full alignment with wider Departmental strategy.
- Using facilitation skills with the ability to find common ground between the technical and non-technical.
Essential Skills
- Business Analysis experience at a senior level within a busy central government department or team
- Stakeholder engagement at all levels which will include business and technical personnel
- Agile business analysis delivery experience and skillset
- Requirements gathering and user stories experience and skillset
- Strong self starter with a proactive approach to all duties
Desirable Skills
- MOJ experience as a business analysis will be highly beneficial
