Commercial Services Business Partner
Pool RE
Location: London – Hybrid role with 60% office attendance
Salary: £55 000 + depending on experience. Discretionary performance bonus up to 20%
About the role:
This role sits in the Commercial Function within the Legal Risk & Governance Team, which is responsible for the legal, regulatory, compliance, company secretarial and commercial services functions of Pool Re.
Supporting and leading on a portfolio of procurements, provide consultancy and support to the business, maintains the Commercial Framework, and supports the business on contract management.
Role responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining a deep and trusted working relationship with the business to deliver joined-up approaches to the delivery of services whilst ensuring adherence to procurement policy, legislation, regulations and best practices across the organisation, driving and developing the functional aspects of procurement
- Working collaboratively with the business to drive value for money and quality in the business’s procurement and commercial engagements and offering commercial support
- Delivering regulated, strategic or high value procurement activity and proactive support for below threshold procurement
- Undertaking regular supplier assurance and due diligence activities and assure regulatory compliance in relation to specified contracts and market analysis and supplier development
- Managing compliance with the Central Digital Platform and stay abreast of, and implementing, further guidance issued by the Cabinet Office
- Proactively support the business in its contract management activity, developing and implementing good contract management, policies and practice
- Ensure consistency in practice with the business areas System administration for the eSourcing and portal and Contracts register
- Provision and use of Management Information to support both the Commercial Services team and wider business
Risk Responsibilities
For the purposes of Pool Re’s Risk Management Framework, this role has been identified as a Control Owner role for the Commercial Services Function.
Control Owners have responsibility for the identification and management of controls in alignment with the corporate risk register and risk management framework, to include: quarterly self-assessment and attestation of owned controls; identification and notification to the Risk Management Function of any risk events; working with the 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defence to complete control testing and complete any actions from events, or as recommended by the 2nd or 3rd Line to improve my control environment. All employees are required to work collaboratively and openly with the Risk Management Function to ensure a positive risk management culture.

- Effective communication skills with the demonstrable ability to build relationships at all? levels within the organisation, an excellent level of written English and proficiency in distilling data into succinct presentations.
- Independent worker with experience of managing contract workload unsupervised
- Changing and improving –responsive, innovative and seek out opportunities to create effective change. It’s about being open to change, suggesting ideas for improvements to the way things are done, and working in ‘smarter’ more focused ways
Experience required:
- Demonstrable experience developing positive working relationships with ExCo level stakeholders
- Experience running large tenders and procurement contract processes from cradle to grave
- Experience of eSourcing and Contract Management platforms e.g. Delta
- MCIPS qualified (or working towards MCIPS) with relevant procurement experience
- Public Sector, Finance/Insurance sector experience desirable
- Experience of using reporting tools e.g. Power BI to create procurement reporting dashboards desirable
