Description & Requirements

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for an Associate Delivery Manager (Inside IR35) for an 2 Month hybrid contract up to 1 day per week days per week in London or Corsham.

 

An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)

 

As a delivery manager your responsibilities are

Main responsibilities

Your main day-to-day activities will be:

  • Build and maintain effective delivery relationships across the service, ensuring teams are motivated, collaborating effectively and focused on delivering value.
  • Coordinate and manage demand into the service, ensuring requests are triaged, prioritised and routed appropriately in line with agreed processes.
  • Identify delivery risks, issues, blockers and dependencies, helping teams overcome them whilst maintaining delivery momentum.
  • Focus the team on the successful delivery and continual improvement of products and services, using Agile practices where appropriate.
  • Act as the day-to-day interface with contracted suppliers, monitoring performance against agreed service levels, driving continual service improvement and supporting commercial management activities.
  • Oversee operational service management activities, including Incident, Service Request and Problem Management, ensuring timely resolution, effective escalation and continual improvement.
  • Coordinate Change Management activities, including acting as Secretariat for the Change Advisory Board (CAB), maintaining governance, decisions and actions.
  • Produce operational reporting, identify service trends, risks and improvement opportunities, providing assurance and regular insight to the Service Owner.
  • Support service governance by maintaining operational documentation and coordinating activities across engineering, operations, security and commercial teams to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Support team members and stakeholders in applying appropriate Agile tools and techniques to improve delivery outcomes.

You can compare and select the most appropriate delivery methods and processes.  You can recognise, reflect and adapt when something does not work, encouraging experimentation.  You can use a blended approach depending on the context.  You can help teams to measure, evaluate and visualise outcomes.   You can encourage reflective practice to improve ways of working.
  • Communicating between the technical and non-technical. You can listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them and manage their expectations. You can manage active and reactive communication. You can support or host difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.
  • Life cycle perspective. You can manage the delivery of products and services that add value through different phases of the life cycle, with some support.   You can identify if the product or service should move to the next phase and, if it should, how to do this.  You can ensure the product or service is developed in line with the appropriate service standards for a phase.  You can use new information to adapt approaches to life cycle management.
  • Maintaining delivery momentum. You can facilitate the delivery flow of a team, managing the pace and tempo. You can actively address internal and external risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team.
  • Making a process work. You can identify and challenge organisational processes of increasing complexity and those processes that are unnecessarily complicated. You can add value and can coach the organisation to inspect and adapt processes. You can guide teams through the implementation of a new process.
  • Planning. You can understand the environment and prioritise the most important or high value tasks. You can use data to inform planning. You can manage complex internal and external dependencies. You can provide delivery confidence. You can remove blockers or impediments that affect plans and can develop a plan for difficult situations. You can ensure that teams plan appropriately for their capacity.
  • Team dynamics and collaboration. You can effectively bring people together to form a motivated team. You can help to create the right environment for a team to work in and can empower them to deliver. You can recognise and deal with issues. You can help create the best team makeup depending on the situation.
