Description & Requirements



On behalf of NRS, we are looking for a Project Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract based in Hunterston.

As a Project Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to:


  • Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned project.
  • Contribute to production of Project Execution Plan including design, safety case and commissioning strategies.
  • Support project optioneering process.
  • Develop concept design and fit for purpose engineering solution for projects
  • Produce and/or approve project technical specifications.
  • Manage detailed design activities in accordance with design authority standards.


Essential:


  • Has supported commissioning activities within operational plant environments, conducting pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and system handovers in line with safety and technical standards.
  • Has operated effectively in highly regulated environments, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and governance frameworks while supporting audit and assurance processes.
  • Possesses applied Mechanical / EC&I engineering knowledge (HNC level or equivalent or higher) to interpret technical drawings and support installation, testing, and system validation.
  • Experience performing hands-on physical testing and inspections to confirm system readiness, performance, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Has diagnosed and resolved faults during commissioning and operations, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
