Description & Requirements


We are currently creating a pipeline for an upcoming opportunity for a Marine Engineer on behalf of the MOD, the role is inside IR35, duration of contract is to be confirmed, and the location is Gosport, Hampshire.

As a Marine Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Proactively manage, inspect, identify and rectify any mechanical defects within the JSASTC sail training fleet and associated equipment. This will involve managing planned and reactive works and ensuring that parts are demanded for immediate, routine and emergent works.
  • Overhaul and maintenance of small marine diesel engines of all recognised brands up to 300 HP.
  • Repair all auxiliary yacht systems including water systems and steering.


Essential:


  • The successful candidate will hold relevant qualifications and experience in working in the maritime environment with mechanical systems on commercial sailing yachts or motorboats.
  • Experience of working with power tools and workshop static machinery
  • Knowledge and good practice of health and safety.
