Description & Requirements

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Cadet Safeguarding Support Worker (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (three days per week onsite - Aldershot, Hampshire).

The role


This role requires Safeguarding Support Workers to be suitably qualified and expert practitioners in Safeguarding work, able to conduct child safeguarding investigations and confident in multi-agency collaboration whilst ensuring a child centred approach. 


Safeguarding support workers work collaboratively with customers including children, families, volunteers, and employees in the Army Cadets, and those representing other agencies including Social Services and Police.


As a Cadet Safeguarding Support Worker, your main responsibilities will be to:


  • Work in a child centred way – promoting the wellbeing and safeguarding of children, above other factors at all times.
  • Act as a point of contact for safeguarding disclosures, concerns, and referrals, providing advice and mentorship to others.
  • Liaise with external agencies and statutory authorities as needed, capturing and sharing sensitive information appropriately.
  • Review, Process and Update Online Safeguarding Casework Management System
  • Present a summary of new referrals in a daily triage meeting to collaboratively identify next steps.
  • Maintain full and accurate records.
  • Support the submission of referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service, Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scotland, or Access Northern Ireland
  • Provide administrative support to Case Workers, booking transport, arranging meetings, taking minutes etc
  • Participate substantially in regular supervision
  • Seek and engage with opportunities for professional development
  • Understand and abide by relevant data protection legislation and regulations, especially the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to safeguarding casework.



Essential:


  • The ideal candidate will have experience of front-line child protection intervention and/ or risk assessment of perpetrators of abuse. 
  • They will also ideally have experience operating in a fast paced administrative role in organisations such as Children Services, NHS, Police, Youth Offending Team.
