Description & Requirements

On behalf of Network Rail we are looking for a Lead Security Assurance Specialist for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with 3 days per week required in Glasgow.

As a Lead Security Assurance Specialist your main responsibilities will be to:


  • Provide assurance over systems local to the Scottish region, with a primary focus on Operational Technology (OT).
  • Act as a key interface with the central security team, leveraging central capabilities and services where required.
  • Perform a hybrid role combining technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and people management skills.
  • Own and deliver against the local Cyber Security Maturity Improvement Plan.
  • Develop and deliver cyber security awareness training where required.
  • Support business continuity / disaster recovery exercises from a cyber security lens.


Essential: 


  • Experience delivering Cyber Security Assurance activities.
  • Understanding of cyber security governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) security principles and associated cyber risks.
  • Ability to assess security posture and recommend risk-based improvements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with central security teams and leveraging shared security services.
  • Ability to influence decision-making across multiple levels of the organisation.
  • Strong communication skills, including reporting, risk communication, and executive briefings.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.


Desirable:


  • Experience working within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments and Industrial Security Standards e.g. ISO27001, IEC 62443 would be beneficial.
  • Telecommunications industry experience.
  • Public Sector experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM etc.
