On behalf of Transport Scotland we are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer Inside IR35 for a 12 months, full time contract based Hybrid 2 days a week in Glasgow and the rest from home
As a Senior Bridge Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Manage delivery of the annual Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct inspection programmes, bridge/structural maintenance, strengthening and replacement programmes relevant to the Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct, on time and to budget.
- Management and monitoring of Risk Programmes for the Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct in accordance with national requirements. Implement the agreed programme of strengthening/upgrading, as funding and priorities permit.
- Provide timely and accurate bridges and structures advice during scheme development, tender and construction phases of all Roads & Major Projects Directorates maintenance, strengthening and upgrading schemes, as these relate to Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct.
- Manage and oversee procurement of bridge works contracts from £350k to £5 million, and in some cases over this value, negotiate and agree claims and disputes up to Delegated Purchasing Authority limit.
- Carry out specialist technical co-ordination duties and provide technical advice as required, for the specialist structures matters assigned, including providing input and advice to timescales set by others, both within and outwith TS.
- Ensure that the electronic Asset Management Performance System (AMPS), PEARL database and bridge/structures records for the Kingston Bridge Complex and Port Eglinton Viaduct are kept up to date and As-Built records and Health and Safety Files are submitted and securely stored for future maintenance.
Essential:
- You must hold a suitable degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, and be a chartered member of an appropriate professional body and registered with the Engineering Council. For this post, MICE or MIStructE is required.
- Experience in design or assessment of highway or railway structures.
- Demonstrate strong project management, programme management, contract management, financial management and technical skills/ability.
