Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) we are looking for a Procurement Officer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based in Flintshire – 4 days p/week – No currently flexibility (Monday – Thursday in office. Friday from home)

To do this the MOD has an annual budget of almost £53 billion and a workforce comprising 197,000 people. of which 54,000 are civilians working for the UK MOD.

 

The work really matters; the MOD offers a range of engaging roles which have a direct impact on the quality of services they provide, in many locations across the UK. We support teams working in HR, Primary Health Care, Corporate Services, and many others.

 

As a Procurement Officer your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Provide procurement support and advice, selecting appropriate strategies and routes to market. 
  • Deliver best value for defence by effectively utilising existing Government frameworks. 
  • Manage tender processes and associated activities in line with MoD policy and relevant legislation. 
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships, resolving invoice queries and delivery issues, and monitoring spend to track year-on-year savings. 
  • Develop strong working relationships with the wider Commercial team, driving continuous improvement and implementing process enhancements. 

 

Essential:

  • Experience with CCS frameworks. 
  • Contract drafting and writing. 
  • End-to-end procurement experience. 
  • Familiarity with tender processes. 
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills. 
  • Experience handling invoice queries. 
  • Experience using ERP systems. 
  • Procurement or buying experience. 
  • Relevant training will be provided where appropriate. 
  • Knowledge of Government frameworks is desirable. 

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Nexus or similar. 
  • CIPS qualification or working towards it. 
  • Proficiency in standard MS Office applications.

 

Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
