On behalf of the Met Office, we are looking for a Project Support Offer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract which is a hybrid role so requires a minimum of 1 day a week in the Exeter office
The Met Office is a UK government executive agency and a public sector research establishment (PSRE) operating as a trading fund, sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Its core role is to provide public weather services, including forecasts and severe weather warnings, for the UK public and government departments, and to provide national capability in climate research.
As a Project Support Officer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Planning and scheduling – Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.
- Monitoring and reporting - Establish and maintain programme controls, keeping the programme manager aware of the programme status. Prepare programme performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information.
- Administration support - Ensure organisational and secretariat tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage and monitor compliance of the programme and its constituent projects with Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.
- Resources - Be part of a team responsible for identifying, developing and deploying resources. Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Programme Manager. Procurement of services related to programme and project support within Delegated Financial Authority limits.
- Stakeholder - Work with relationship managers to update stakeholder profiles ensuring the correct level of stakeholder engagement for the benefit of the programme. Financial control - Monitor Programme and Project expenditure and contribute to the compilation of forecasts, budgets and business cases.
- Risks and Issues - Manage programme risk areas, working with risk owners and escalating as appropriate
Essential Skills
- Experience in project support across a busy team within either the public or private sectors
- Excellent IT skills with a focus on Microsoft packages - SharePoint
- Stakeholder engagement across the department at all levels
- Experience in the support of RISK within project delivery
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong self starter with a proactive approach to all duties
