On behalf of the Met Office, we are looking for an Employee Relations Advisor (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract on a hybrid basis (2-3 days per week from Exeter)
As an Employee Relations Advisor your main responsibilities will be:
- Lead the Employee Relations function, promoting best practice and ensuring the effective management of ER casework.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters, including complex and high-risk cases.
- Manage escalated cases, including supporting Employment Tribunal proceedings where required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and translate this into practical guidance.
- Coach and support managers and People colleagues to build confidence and capability in managing people issues.
- Develop effective relationships with senior leaders, Trade Union representatives and external providers, including Occupational Health and Employee Assistance Programme services.
- Lead or contribute to people projects and use people data and metrics to identify trends and drive service improvement.
- Champion innovative, ethical and customer-focused approaches that enhance the employee experience.
Essential:
- SC Clearance
- Significant experience in Employee Relations within a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice.
- Experience managing complex employee relations cases, including Employment Tribunal preparation and support.
- Proven ability to influence and advise managers and senior stakeholders.
- Experience coaching and developing others in people management practices.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to use data and insight to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
- CIPD qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience working in a unionised environment.
- Experience managing Occupational Health and/or Employee Assistance Programme contracts.
- Experience delivering people-related projects and service improvements.
- Experience within the public sector or another large, complex organisation.
