Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Met Office, we are looking for a Full Stack Developer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Remotely with occasional travel to Exeter.


We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to build and maintain scalable web applications and platforms in a mixed cloud (Azure and AWS) environment for a Government organisation. The successful candidate will work across the full software development lifecycle, from conception through to deployment, collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver high quality solutions that meet business objectives. This role requires experience in both front end and back end technologies, strong problem solving skills and familiarity with Agile methodologies.


As a Full Stack Developer your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop responsive, accessible and high-quality user interfaces using Next.js, React and TypeScript.
  • Build and manage back-end services and APIs using Python and FastAPI/Flask.
  • Develop APIs that integrate with search indexing technologies such as Elasticsearch.
  • Collaborate with design and product teams to create intuitive user experiences.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing and debugging to ensure high-quality software.
  • Maintain and update existing applications, troubleshoot issues and implement enhancements.
  • Write technical documentation and assist in defining project requirements.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to streamline deployment processes.


Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and frameworks like React, Next.js.
  • Strong knowledge of back-end technologies such as Python and Node.js.
  • Familiarity with databases and search indexes such as Elasticsearch and SQL-like databases.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git).
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms and deployment strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging and communication skills.


Desirable:

  • Candidates must be willing and eligible to undergo SC Clearance. Active SC Clearance is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience with PyGeoAPI.
  • Experience with Jira / Confluence.
