AMS PSR

On behalf of the Met Office, we are looking for a Python AWS Developer Inside IR35 for a 12 months contract based Hybrid Exeter.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active SV clearance. 

As a Python AWS Developer , your main responsibilities will be:

Essential:

Essential Criteria

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a natural aptitude for tackling complex technical challenges. (Experts by nature)
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and delivering high‑quality, efficient software solutions on Amazon Web Services, including building and exposing data services via APIs. (We keep evolving)
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. (We’re better together)
• Self‑motivated, organised, and able to prioritise work, meet deadlines, and lead development activities when required.
• Demonstrable proficiency in Python for software development.
• Demonstrable experience using AWS CDK for infrastructure‑as‑code.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
• Familiarity with Agile software development practices, ideally aligned to GDS principles.
• Experience using AI tools or prompt engineering to support and enhance development workflows.
• Understanding of scientific data formats, such as NetCDF, BUFR, or GRIB.
