Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Met Office, we are looking for a Devops Engineer Inside IR35/ for a 6 months contract based Hybrid Exeter.


As a Devops Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:


Essential:

  • Design, build, and maintain DevOps toolchains and automated workflows
  • Develop and support logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions across distributed environments
  • Translate technical requirements into scalable and efficient DevOps processes
  • Manage test and live environments, ensuring reliability and performance
  • Write and maintain automation scripts and services (primarily in Python)
  • Improve development standards, CI/CD processes, and system observability
  • Identify and resolve delivery blockers, reducing risk and improving speed
  • Design systems with built-in security controls and resilience
  • Develop and maintain integrations between systems and platforms
  • Proven experience in a DevOps / Platform Engineering role
  • Strongexperience with:
    • AWS (core services, deployments, infrastructure)
    • Python for automation and scripting
    • Elastic (ELK Stack) for logging and observability
    • JIRA for workflow and issue tracking
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and development toolchains
  • Ability to design, build, test, and document solutions of moderate to high complexity
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems in production environments
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform) is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management tools (e.g. ServiceNow)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
