Description & Requirements

On behalf of The Government Property Agency, we are looking for a Physical Security Assurance Lead for a 6 month hybrid contract based in London or Birmingham.

The Government Property Agency is an Executive Agency of the cabinet office. It is changing the way the Civil Service works and is at the forefront of Government's transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The Agency is central to the delivery of key Government policies including moving 22,000 Civil Service roles out of London by 2030 and tackling climate change by contributing to the Net Zero agenda. To do this we are delivering a major change programme across the UK and consolidating our portfolio in order to save £1.4 Bn over 10 years.

Beyond the bricks and mortar, the GPA is about providing great workplaces for our people.

This is an ambitious and exciting task, for which we need innovative people, with strong commercial acumen, who are passionate about visualising and implementing customer needs.

As a Physical Security Assurance Lead, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Work with the Operational Security Manager to critically review and comprehensively rewrite existing physical security risk assessments and register risk across multiple locations. Ensuring they are fit for purpose, standardised, and fully compliant with organisational guidelines. This role requires a strategic thinker who can elevate our existing documentation, utilise established protective security risk management models and apply threat, risk and vulnerability operationally.
  • Critically evaluate, refine, and rewrite existing physical security risk assessments across multiple sites to ensure total organisational compliance and operational readiness. Identify operational vulnerabilities within current documentation and close those gaps.
  • Review historical and current site data to apply accurate, standardised risk scoring. Document control measures and mitigation strategies to lower residual risk exposure.
  • Evaluate and translate threat intelligence and target attractiveness across various geographic locations, applying these insights at a strategic level to ensure assessments reflect the true threat landscape.
  • Develop, write, and refine Incident Management Plans with a specific focus on supply chain security.
  • Ensure incident management plans and security protocols are accurately reflected in supply chain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and site specific Assignment Instructions (AIs).

Essential:

  • Proven ability to audit, upgrade, and rewrite complex physical security risk assessments based on existing data and reports.
  • A keen eye for detail with a track record of aligning security documentation to strict organisational standards and policies.
  • Deep, practical understanding of the distinctions between threat, vulnerability, and risk, and the ability to articulate these clearly in formal documentation.
  • Direct experience working with recognised protective security risk management frameworks to standardise outputs. Including writing Risk Statements to evidence risk management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in supply chain security management and complexity of working across multiple stakeholders.
  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
