Role: Senior Network Architect (SCS Grade)

Location: Croydon (60% office, 40% WFH) – Must also be willing to visit the team in Plymouth

Level: SCS Grade

Reason for the role: This role is urgently required to conduct a technical assurance review on the proposed network High level design. Network redesign is an activity undertaken circa every 20 years – and therefore HMLR have a gap in specialist network architecture expertise with specific knowledge in both the current and desired designs options and solutions. HMLR needs assurance that the technical design decisions being taken are:

• Requirements have been clearly and comprehensively articulated and the proposal strategy and subsequent design is likely to fulfil them.
• Risks, dependencies, impact assessments have been accurately and fully identified, assessed and mitigated.
• Proposed strategy and design are achievable, within expected cost profile and with industry standard solutions.

The role will be for 1 month with a split across January – February:

• 2 weeks - Assurance review of Network Topology proposal document for new target architecture, with gaps/risks recommendations, review documentation, interview SMEs, discuss with HMLR Technical Design Authority
• 2 weeks – review of Target architecture design proposal; review documentation, interview SMEs, discuss with HMLR Technical Design Authority; provide support and challenge as appropriate, identify any new risks, impacts, and dependencies.

Essential Experience required:

• Extensive, recent direct experience of designing/implementing internet networks across multiple sites, including corporate WIFI
• Specialist knowledge of designs connecting Data Centre estate, Data centre switching/routing design, firewall integration, network topology and enterprise design changes cloud platforms and multiple office sites.
• Experience designing enterprise corporate data centre networks
• Data centre switching/routing design, firewall integration, network topology
• Effective communication skills including interaction and building of relationships with key stakeholders
• Professional network certification, preferably CCNA or CCNP
• Experience in the deployment and configuration of switching and routing technologies
• Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN)
• Knowledge of Cisco operating systems and technologies including one of;
• Cisco IOS & IOS-XE
• Cisco NX-OS
• Cisco ACI
• Network Security
