On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Commercial Manager (Inside IR35) for a contract until the End of November 2027 based in Corsham 4 days a week.

To do this the MOD has an annual budget of almost £53 billion and a workforce comprising 197,000 people. of which 54,000 are civilians working for the UK MOD.
The work really matters; the MOD offers a range of engaging roles which have a direct impact on the quality of services they provide, in many locations across the UK. We support teams working in HR, Primary Health Care, Corporate Services, and many others.
Defence Digital is responsible for the digital services across MOD, and the commercial team are key to the delivery and management of these. We are one of the largest and most complex commercial functions within Government operating with a Category Management Structure covering Networks, Hardware and Services, Software, Professional Services and Military Technology. Our core contracts are huge in value and complexity, and our core strategy is to disaggregate and simplify these to improve performance and value. We operate within a digital space that has both huge scale and unique opportunities not found in any other UK organisations providing real potential for personal growth and development. The services are vital to the UK and its partners, so the roles are hugely important and fulfilling.
You will work independently and part of a larger team by drawing on your commercial experience to drive performance and manage setbacks. You will be able to prioritise and manage your own workload to deliver to deadlines, mitigate and escalate any emerging risks and to respond swiftly to changing operational demands
As a Commercial Manager, your main responsibilities will be:
- Provide expert input to Defence Digital teams to shape sourcing decisions and align with digital category strategies.
- Deliver proactive market insight through strategic monitoring of suppliers.
- Run compliant procurement processes, select suppliers using robust criteria, and negotiate favourable commercial terms.
- Manage full contract lifecycle, ensuring delivery of financial and non-financial benefits, service quality, and risk mitigation.
- Advise on commercial policy, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement across sourcing activities.
- Lead commercial delivery across a portfolio, empowering teams
Essential:
- Active DV Clearance and Sole UK National status
- Extensive experience in commercial roles, including large-scale sourcing, contract negotiation, and multi-million-pound contract management
- Strong expertise in Category Management, Supplier Management, and Contract Lifecycle Management
- Proven ability to deliver savings and benefits, supported by market insight, requirements gathering, and robust negotiation skills
