Description & Requirements

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Supply Chain Manager - (Inside IR35/PAYE) for a 6-month contract working on a hybrid basis and with an expectation of 3 days attendance in the Flintshire office.

Job description

Here at DE&S Deca, we are looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join us and play a vital role in supporting UK defence capabilities. At DE&S Deca we play a key part in equipping and supporting the armed forces with everything they need to ensure effective operational capability. As a Supply Chain Manager, you will play a critical part in helping us achieve this mission.


You will be responsible for the delivery of supply chain activities for an agreed range of Inventory and support, key activities contributing to operational success across item data management, customer demand planning, inventory supply planning, supplier management, supply chain performance management and inventory disposals.


We champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required (this is expected to be approximately 60% of your working week) to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance and business need. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.


As a Supply Chain Manager - (Inside IR35/PAYE), your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining Item data records onto the MOD logistic information systems for an agreed range of equipment by collating all data values, to enable optimised supply chain activities, through life.
  • Responsible for developing inventory demand and supply plans proposals for an agreed range of equipment and executing, within an agreed financial delegation limit, that optimises Inventory levels for all support arrangements, using centrally approved Inventory analysis tools.
  • Assist with the identifying and securing the optimal storage and distribution solution(s) for an agreed range of equipment, to meet the customer’s requirements, for all support arrangements.
  • Responsible for the timely production of customs declaration documents to enable compliant HMRC activities when distributing inventory into/out of the UK
  • Responsible for ensuring all MOD owned inventory, within an agreed range, is materiel and financially accounted for in accordance with inventory materiel & financial accounting policies and procedures, to enable optimised Inventory, financial and operational planning for all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the disposal of Inventory is timely and ensuring accurate item data values are populated onto appropriate declaration forms. ensure inventory disposals are coordinated with the disposal of the platform/main equipment whilst considering the wider defence user needs, for an agreed range of equipment within an agreed financial delegation limit.
  • Assist support solution development by detailing the mandated supply chain requirements, including government furnished equipment, throughout the CADMID cycle. Support vetting activities of proposed initial provisioning list to identify and remove from scope any lines of equipment already within the defence inventory.
  • Responsible for conducting defined management checks on supply chain management activity to ensure policy and process adherence is being achieved


Essential:

  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance
  • Experience of operating within a supply chain or logistics environment.
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Experience in effectively operating within a budget.
  • Experience in handling, interpreting and reporting on data
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and TEAMS)
  • Full UK Driving license.

  • Public Sector Experience
