Description & Requirements

On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Finance Business Partner (inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based in Cardiff 3 days per week

As a Finance Business Partner, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Provide expert financial guidance to senior budget holders, enabling informed decisions through clear analysis of results, forecasts, and variances.
  • Lead on accounting practices, ensuring accurate period-end adjustments and validating financial data integrity across cost centres.
  • Manage corporate governance and compliance, conducting deep dives to mitigate legal and financial risks.
  • Deliver insightful business reviews and reporting, highlighting key issues to support strategic decision-making.
  • Build detailed budgets and business plans from the ground up, supporting value-added analysis and strong financial governance.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks, including supplier/customer financial suitability, and lead investment appraisal recommendation


Essential: 


  • Finance Business Partnering Experience
  • Strong Excel and Power BI skills
  • Experience of Month End
  • Ability to interpret technical accounting regulations into everyday language
  • Membership (Or working towards a membership) of a relevant accounting body (CIMA/ACCA


Desirable:


  • Public sector experience
  • Extensive experience of Oracle based systems
