Description & Requirements

On behalf of UK Space Agency (DSIT), we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant (Inside IR35) for a 3 Months contract (potential extension) based 2 days a week in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Harwell or Leicester

As a Senior Financial Accountant, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Act as the subject matter expert on financial controls, maintaining robust policies and compliance (e.g. T&S, expenses).
  • Lead the preparation of financial statements and sections of the Annual Report, including hedge calculations for estimates.
  • Manage the UKSBS relationship, ensuring ledger quality and performance through regular reviews.
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and smooth completion of the Annual Report and Accounts (ARA).
  • Drive counter-fraud efforts: update policies, lead awareness training, and ensure compliance with GovS 13.
  • Develop and implement the Counter Fraud Strategy, including action plans to address fraud, bribery, and corruption.


Essential:


  • Experience in developing financial controls and/or counter fraud measures drafting Policy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present financial information clearly and confidently to various audiences, including senior management and external auditors


Desirable:


  • Experience in managing financial projects or initiatives, particularly those related to financial reporting or audit processes
  • Experience of auditing
