On behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) we are looking for a Digital Content Communications Manager for a 6 month contract based remotely (office attendance in Bristol as and when required will be expected)

The Role:
As a Digital Content Communication Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the digital communications strategy for the Defence Office for Small Business Growth. Working within a blended team of Civil Servants and Contractors, and in close collaboration with the Project Manager, Change Manager, and Digital Product Manager, you will ensure the successful launch of the office to Initial Operating Capability (IOC). Your work will align with Government Digital Service (GDS), Government Communication Service (GCS), and Ministry of Defence (MOD) standards, including accessibility and security regulations.
As a Digital Content Communication Manager, your role responsibilities are:
- Design, deliver, and manage a comprehensive digital communications strategy to support the IOC launch.
- Create and publish engaging digital content (e.g., web copy, articles, infographics, videos, newsletters, social media).
- Manage and optimise digital channels including website, intranet, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and YouTube.
- Develop targeted digital campaigns to raise awareness and encourage SME engagement in the UK defence supply chain.
- Collaborate with MOD colleagues, industry partners, and SMEs to source and amplify success stories and best practices.
- Analyse digital metrics and campaign performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure all communications meet MOD branding, accessibility, security, and GDPR standards.
- Provide digital communications advice and training to internal teams.
- Stay current with digital trends and technologies to identify innovative engagement opportunities.
- Lead relationships with external suppliers and agencies for content production.
- Gather and sanitise digital information for SME consumption.
- Work with digital solution suppliers to ensure a clear and effective user journey.
- Conduct user testing and iterate content for continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria:
- SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering digital communication strategies and content, ideally within government, defence, or SME sectors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts into accessible digital formats.
- Proficiency across digital platforms and content management systems.
- Demonstrated success in leading digital campaigns or launches, with use of analytics and performance metrics.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of digital accessibility standards, MOD digital security, and data protection regulations.
Essential Skills:
- Strategic Digital Communication: Ability to execute targeted strategies across web, social media, and email platforms.
- Content Creation & Management: Skilled in producing engaging and accessible content tailored to SME audiences.
- Digital Campaigns & Analytics: Experience in designing campaigns and analysing performance using digital tools.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and content enrichment.
- Digital Tools & Platforms: Proficiency in CMS, social media tools, and platforms like LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and YouTube.
Desirable Criteria:
- Background in defence, procurement, public policy, or industrial strategy.
- Understanding of public sector procurement rules (e.g., Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations).
- Experience supporting economic development or SME programmes.
- Familiarity with agile working methods and digital transformation practices.
