On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Commercial Finance Lead - (Inside IR35) for a 3-month contract working on a hybrid basis and with an expectation of 1-2 days attendance in either the Abbey Wood, Bristol or Glasgow offices

The work really matters; the MOD offers a range of engaging roles which have a direct impact on the quality of services they provide, in many locations across the UK. We support teams working in HR, Primary Health Care, Corporate Services, and many others.

As a Commercial Finance Lead - (Inside IR35), your main responsibilities will be:

• Work with external advisers to test assumptions in relation to the financial flows and highlight areas where additional work is needed.
• Work with the Commercial Lead, Finance and VAT specialists, to identify how VAT will be treated and highlight anywhere this may cause any operational issues.
• Review the LCP policy and procedures to be implemented which govern our projects, ensuring these are coherent and that developing in the Assurance Strategy and Controls are fully captured and implemented.
• Update Commercial Risk Logs with any additional financial risks, suggest and assist in the management of mitigation plans.
• Develop the Finance and Economic Case in the Business Case.
• Establish strong working relationships with the LCP Working Group and oversee the monthly MI and data packs.
• Engage with key stakeholders in Op Fin and Fin Accounting on expenditure and controls.
• Lead discussions with external financial leads in Barclaycard, Unite and Amazon Business.

Essential:

• SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance
• Either AAT or CIMA qualified
• Finance Management experience
• Finance Policy experience
• Stakeholder Management / Relationship – Internal and external experience

Desirable:

• Public Secor experience
• Experience of working within Assurance
• ERP system experience
