AMS PSR

On behalf of HSE, we are looking for a Software Asset & Configuration Manager (ITAM / SAM) for a 6 month (Inside IR35) contract based Remote.

We’re looking for an experienced Software Asset & Configuration Manager (ITAM / SAM) to support HSE in establishing an accurate, audit-ready view of its IT estate. This role is focused on ServiceNow CMDB, CSDM mapping and IT estate discovery, helping to underpin cyber security, compliance and ITIL service management processes.

This is a key role within a discovery-led programme, laying the foundations for long-term IT Asset Management, Configuration Management and future Software Asset Management optimisation.

As a Software Asset & Configuration Manager your main responsibilities will be to:

• Lead IT estate discovery across on-premise, network and cloud environments, producing accurate and compliant configuration and asset data.
• Configure and optimise ServiceNow CMDB applying CSDM service modelling to support ITIL processes and cyber assurance.
• Validate, cleanse and normalise asset and configuration data to create a trusted baseline view of the IT estate.
• Establish strong foundations for future SAM activity, including licence reconciliation and Effective Licence Position (ELP) analysis as part of later optimisation phases.
• Work closely with service owners and SMEs to clarify ownership, dependencies and configuration impacts.
• Provide insight and recommendations supporting audit readiness, cyber security and long- term ITAM/SAM strategy.

Essential:

• Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow configuration, including CMDB population and CSDM mapping.
• Solid background in IT Asset Management (ITAM) and configuration management in complex environments.
• Practical understanding of ITIL and how configuration and asset data underpin Incident, Problem and Change processes.
• Experience delivering or supporting IT estate discovery across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Knowledge of Software Asset Management (licensing, compliance, catalogue/ELP work) with the ability to support future optimisation.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical data into meaningful insight

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
