Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Government Property Agency (GPA), we are looking for a Finance Business Partner (INSIDE IR35) for a 5 Month hybrid contract in Birmingham.

 

The successful candidate will have an expectation of 1 office day per week, and the remainder is to be worked from home.

 

The Government Property Agency is an Executive Agency of the cabinet office. It is changing the way the Civil Service works and is at the forefront of Government's transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The Agency is central to the delivery of key Government policies including moving 22,000 Civil Service roles out of London by 2030 and tackling climate change by contributing to the Net Zero agenda. To do this we are delivering a major change programme across the UK and consolidating our portfolio in order to save £1.4 Bn over 10 years.

This is an ambitious and exciting task, for which we need innovative people, with strong commercial acumen, who are passionate about visualising and implementing customer needs.

 

As a Finance Business Partner, your main responsibilities will be: 

 

  • Partner across multiple business disciplines to support process improvement initiatives. 
  • Ensure finance processes and controls are clearly documented and maintained. 
  • Provide data analysis and reporting to support business decision-making. 
  • Lead finance oversight of process review activities, ensuring financial requirements are met. 
  • Collaborate with Management Accountants and the PMO team to align process outcomes with finance needs. 
  • Act as the key finance representative throughout process review and transformation projects. 
  • Work closely with a team of nine, including three specialists dedicated to this workstream. 
  • Drive continuous improvement by ensuring process changes deliver effective financial reporting and controls.

 

 

Essential: 

 

  • Finance professional operating at a senior level. 
  • Confident and authoritative. 
  • Previous management experience preferred. 
  • Strong balance sheet accounting knowledge. 
  • Experience documenting finance processes. 
  • Advanced Excel/MS Office skills. 
  • Resilient and adaptable. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills. 
  • Excellent communicator and influencer.
  • Worked in a similar role within the Public Sector
  • Fully qualified accountant 

 

Desirable: 

 

  • Google Sheets experience desirable.
