Description & Requirements

On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Commercial Manager Inside IR35 for a 12 months contract based Hybrid working (2 days per week in Birmingham office)

The main duties and responsibilities of the Commercial Manager would be to:

  • Manage the £75m MPSB contract awarded in 2018 for the design and supply of 11 multipurpose stoneblowers
  • Oversee contract renegotiations and ensure delivery of machines on commercially acceptable terms
  • Prepare position papers and support negotiations led by key stakeholders
  • Handle day-to day commercial activities, contract management, COWD, and financial reporting for the MPSB contract and 5 associated contracts
  • Lead the procurement of the £86m Rail Delivery Train project, consisting of 8 trains with an option for 3 additional higher capacity trains
  • Ensure solid experience and application of NEC4 contracts
  • Provide strong leadership and support to the project team in contract management
  • Plan for contract award in December 2025


Essential:

  • Strong Network Rail/Rail experience or experience in Buildings/Civils
  • Previous QS experience 
  • NEC4 experience
  • Significant procurement experience using a range of procedures
  • Strong business acumen and ability to show evidence-based decision making
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and influencing skills
  • Awareness of public sector procurement legislation
  • Relevant commercial experience
  • Oracle experience
  • RICS qualification (desirable)
